Nail of the Day: Zoya Fleck Effect "Chloe"

The two polishes that I won from Zoya's "Freebie Friday" arrived today! Unfortunately, they sent me a different color polish than I had asked for, but since it was free I can't really complain. I've been so excited to try this polish after reading so many awesome reviews and seeing so many pretty manicures with it. This color is called "Chloe" and is from the new "Zoya Fleck Effect Polish" collection. Basically, it is a very pale sheer pink glaze base with different reflective pieces of reddish orange and greenish blue glitte in it. Being that the base color is not very opaque, it seems that these polishes are best when applied over a darker base color.

For this manicure, I used "Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Black Platinum" as the base color and then applied two coats of "Chloe" on top and finished it off with a layer of "Seche Vite." I had a feeling that, since this polish had a great deal of thick glitter pieces, it would apply pretty unevenly. To my surprise, I didn't have to put any effort into making sure that the glitter spread evenly, as the formula made sure of that entirely on its own. The good thing about this glaze is that it's thin enough to add a couple of coats so that you can achieve the level of glitter that you want without it being too thick. Overall, I really like the look of this polish and I think I'll be wearing it a lot this spring!
Do you like the "Fleck Effect" polishes?
What is your favorite "special effect" top coat?

    1. I have seen it a few other places but even with 3 coats it's still clear, haha. I don't think it would ever be opaque =/

  5. It really look lovely. :) In my opinion though, flecks or holographic glitters show best with dark base and matte topcoat. :)

    1. Yeah they do show up best with matte top coats, but for some reason I never really liked them :(

  6. Hey girl! Great post(: I kind of need that nail polish.. But anyways, I was just wondering how on your main homepage, you have a 'read more' option after a shortened version of each post. I'm kind of new to this whole blogging thing and I really hate looking at my entire post on my front page. Help? Hahahah, it would be greately appreciated <3

    1. Ah ok sure no problem. So when you are writing a post, you need to write the text out entirely. Then pick a spot you would like to break the text (everything before the break will show up on the homepage and everything after the break will show up after you click "read more" on a separate page). So place your blinking cursor where you want the break to begin and then click the button to the right of the button that looks like the directors cut thing. The button you need to click looks like a piece of paper being ripped in two. So click that and it will insert a break. When you click publish and check your homepage you will automatically see a "read more" button where you inserted the page break. Hope this helps!

  31. This is such a pretty polish! Where we live it's hard to find Zoya sometimes. We have been loving the Essie Luxeffects for top coats recently. We love Shine of the Times and As Gold As It Gets. You should totally check them out especially the Shine of the Times. It's my fave! Mendi even mentioned them in her January Favorites http://www.herlatenightcravings.blogspot.com/2012/01/january-favorites.html

We are now following you and would love for you to visit our blog sometime and follow back if you like. Have a great day!
